Most people in the office sit hunched at their desk, eyes straining, neck muscles taut, breathing shallowly and putting on weight through lack of exercise.
Next to Back Disorders, which are the most common forms of ill-health at work, 13.4 million working days a year are lost to STRESS in the UK with one in four people affected.
Why Business People Like Yoga
With a unique combination of exercise, meditation, relaxation, and focus, yoga is the perfect antidote to the stresses and strains of today. It builds core physical strength and there's growing evidence it can improve brain function. Business people cite the following as reasons for practising yoga:
- increased mental clarity
- more energy
- postural training for presentations
- developing the ability to remain steady under pressure
- allowing creativity to bloom
- getting into the flow state associated with peak performance
Logistics - Classes in the workplace
Not everyone has the time or energy to travel to a yoga class so a class held in the workplace makes it easy for everyone to participate. The classes can be held early morning, lunch time or after work. A room such as the training room or an empty canteen can be set aside for classes.

Ideally classes last 1 hour and 15 minutes but they can be shortened or lengthened.

PERSONAL ONE TO ONE COACHING FOR EXECUTIVES
Fairlie Gibson is an excellent yoga teacher, patient, thoughtful and encouraging. I found my lessons with her rewarding and stimulating. The style of yoga that she teaches encourages thought around posture, position and most importantly attitude. As a mature (slightly stiff) man in his fifties I found that just after a few lessons my flexibility and posture improved dramatically. I would recommend her to anyone who wished to improve their mind and body.

YOGA FOR TEAM EVENTS, AWAY DAYS AND REWARD SCHEMES
A taster yoga class is a great way to do something new, utterly different and fun. A real team bonding experience. Sessions are tailored so that everyone can join in.
My manager asked me to arrange an activity for our annual company day. Last year we went bowling and before that we played football but this year he was keen for us to try yoga. None of us thought that we would be able to do it, as out of 16 people few of us have done it before, but acutally, Fairlie made it very easy and to our surprise we all enjoyed it and felt great afterwards. Ciao.
